"Beauty and the Beast" is a song written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman for Disney's 1991 animated film, Beauty and the Beast, originally recorded by English actress and singer, Angela Lansbury. The song was later re-arranged as a duet and recorded by world-renowned artists, Canadian songstress Céline Dion, and American musician Peabo Bryson. The song was internationally successful, reaching number-nine in the United States, and becoming a breakout song for both artists. The song is also featured on Dion's self-titled seventeenth studio album, released in 1992.
