Paula Abdul is an American pop/R&B singer, songwriter, dancer, television personality, and actress, best-known for her string of early and mid-1980's number-one hits, her upbeat dance choreography, and as the lone female judge on the popular American television singing competition, American Idol, from 2001 to 2009 (the expiration of her contract). She is currently a judge on the American version of The X Factor, alongside then-American Idol judge, Simon Cowell.
